Mestreau VSOP Petite Champagne Cognac (70CL)

France Cognac Petite Champagne

Frédéric Mestreau is a very old cognac brand brought back to life by Guilhem Grosperrin. Originally founded in 1808, their cognacs were famous around the world until 1919 when economic pressures forced their closure. Guilhem has the opportunity to purchase a collection of 19th century spirits produced by Mestreau, from which he built up a profile of the company's house style and has managed to recreate it with a range of modern eaux-de-vie. The VSOP is a blend of eaux-de-vie from the Petite Champagne region, aged for a minimum of 4 years in French oak. It shows notes of dried fruits and pressed flowers along with beeswax, toffee, mixed spices, apples, red grapes and a vibrant but not overpowering vanilla and spicy oak character. It is exceptionally bright and delicious.
