For Jeroboams, 2022 has been a year of frenetic pace, it’s been a year of adapting and, sat here now, it’s been a year that has been both challenging and rewarding.

Taking a moment just ahead of the festive season is an annual tradition of mine that gives me a moment to reflect on the achievements so far and to focus on what is important over the coming months. At this point my ability to influence the festive period is limited, it’s over to the team now, a chance for them to use all their knowledge and passion to ensure that our customers eat and drink well over this important time.

So what have we achieved in 2022?

Winning four Decanter Retailer Awards for 2022, including Outstanding Retailer of the Year, as well as Italy Specialist, New Zealand Specialist and Best London Multi-Store.

Three hugely successful tastings, Bordeaux, Piedmont and our Late Summer Portfolio Tasting. The team were so pleased to be back face to face with customers at tastings, and our producers loved meeting so many of you at these events. Look out for more to come in 2023.

The successful introduction of 2 volunteering days per annum for each of our team members to give them a chance to give back to their communities. We’ve seen them being used for everything from helping City Harvest, to gardening in London parks, to littering picking along our waterways, to helping out at schools. I’m fascinated to see how the team continue to use these days as we move forward.

A joint project in our Pont St fine wine room alongside our friends at Champagne Laurent Perrier. Their team have installed a fabulous Laurent Perrier room and have been busy hosting tastings for customers and press throughout November.

The signing of a lease on a new shop, located in Wimbledon Village, which will open in early December. Our new shop is inspired by our historic Holland Park premises and we will be bringing our fine cheese and meats, as well as our award winning wines, to the residents of SW19. Our opening party will take place on Wednesday 14th December, from 5-7pm, so please do join us for a glass of bubbles.

Looking ahead; our Christmas offer has just been released, we’ve curated our finest ever range of gifts and I’m personally delighted to see Domaine Sauzet’s ‘la Tufera’ and Moss Woods ‘Amy’s’ included in our Christmas wine selection this year. Both wines that find a regular place at my family table.

January will see the tiny in volume, but very high quality, 2021 Burgundy vintage being released – read our Fine Wine Buyer’s vintage report here. Spring will also see our Walton St and Heath St shops being refitted, so watch this space for those new look shops!

I’d like to take the opportunity to thank you for your business throughout 2022 and to wish you all the very finest of season’s greetings.
