Nougat aroma. Gentle fizz and iced-cherry, grapefruit flavours. Muted and discreet, and only just on the right side of watery. But if you want an unflashy rosé champagne, this will do the job.

Offering up attractive aromas of warm bread, orange rind and red apples, the latest release of Joseph Perrier’s NV Brut Rosé Cuvée Royale is medium to full-bodied, fleshy but precise, with a delicate core of fruit, ripe but racy acids and a saline finish. This is a creditable effort from this improving house.
