Jancis Robinson

Beautiful label – so simple; I’d have it on my wall. Grenache Blanc is such a Marmite grape, in more ways than one; metaphorically, literally. It’s savoury, stubborn, yeasty; it spits on fruit, chews tobacco, breathes in hay, stomps on sentimentality, holds grudges, writes poetry, and every time you taste it, there is the bitter-sweet poignancy of almost-not-quite-forgotten heart-broken resentment left on your tongue. Grenache Blanc is not a seaside grape but it sketches pears in the sand and then hides them under a wave of sea foam. Grenache Blanc is not an alpine grape but if you pressed alpine herbs and wild flowers into the rind of a gentle milky cheese, you would taste Grenache Blanc. It’s difficult, contradictory, and once you’ve fallen in love with Grenache Blanc, you will never recover. Grenache Blanc always ages longer than you think it will. This is classic Grenache Blanc.
