2019 Chablis, Tete d’Or, Domaine Billaud-Simon

Chablis Golden Head, as we are fond of calling it, is a blend of two parcels located on the southern slopes at the foot of Montée de Tonnerre. The 2019 is on fine form, with ripe yellow stone fruits and citrus peel. The palate is particularly impressive, this is a clear step up from your average Chablis village in terms of weight and texture, with a ginger spiced note on the finish that is very appealing.

Vinous

The 2019 Chablis Tête d’Or has a composed bouquet of yellow plum, crushed rock and light fumé scents that uncoil in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. The oak barrel underpins this Chablis but doesn’t obscure the terroir expression, though I would still afford it 12–18 months in bottle.
