2019 Barolo del Commune di Monforte d’Alba, Diego Conterno
Real power on the nose, with spices, cassis and dark raspberyy flavours. Quite creamy at first on the palate there are plenty of succelent tannins lurking behind. A really elegant wine. Drink 2027 - 2040

The 2019 Barolo del Commune di Monforte d’Alba is a very pretty wine in this range from Diego Conterno. In 2019, the Comune bottling is a bit more open than it often is, which means it will drink well with minimal cellaring. Dried cherry fruit, cedar, pipe tobacco, menthol and crushed flowers all grace this mid-weight, open-knit Barolo. There’s plenty of Monforte depth, but also a good deal of softness. A whole range of floral and savory top notes extend the finish.
