2018 Anna, Clos Dubreuil, St. Emilion Grand Cru

France Bordeaux St. Emilion

Tasting note

Rich deep and opulent, but with a wonderful feeling of lift and freshness to it. Silky tannins frame the warming finish.

Our thoughts

A polished and glossy St Emilion, this is the second wine that is ready for drinking sooner than the main cuvee, so can be enjoyed now. Jane Anson called Clos Dubreuil, ‘a name that has slowly but surely acquired cult status’.

Vinous

The 2018 Anna from Clos Dubreuil, the Second Wine, is already very seductive on the nose, featuring pure black cherry, orange pith, strawberry preserve and light violet scents. These aromatics are nicely focused. The palate is well balanced with silky tannins, wonderful acidity and an irresistible sense of harmony. It borrows a soupçon of the licorice from Clos Dubreuil, while the sustained finish is extremely precise. This is just as good as the Grand Vin!
