The 2017 Lirac la Dame Rousse hadn’t been blended yet when I visited the estate, so this is a composite impression from several tanks and barrels. It’s full-bodied and velvety, with the Grenache having a slightly roasted, mulberry character, while the Syrah is more pepper and fresh blueberries. It should come together nicely.

A 50-50 blend of Grenache and Syrah, the 2017 Lirac la Dame Rousse still hadn’t been bottled at the time of my visit. It features ripe red and black cherries and a hint of chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety in feel, it should drink well young.
