Vinous
The 2016 Morellino di Scansano Riserva is dense, rich and heady, with tremendous textural richness and power. Grilled herbs, leather, smoke, licorice, tobacco and cedar add touches of aromatic nuance, but the 2016, which spent 12 months in French oak, is mostly a wine of fruit intensity and structure. This is a decidedly hearty, burly style. I would like to think a little more subtlety is possible.
