2014 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, Maison Roche De Bellene (6 x Bottle)
Roche de Bellene is the small negociant company of Nicolas Potel who comes from a line of legendary Burgundian winemakers. His contacts book is as good as it gets and he has an uncanny ability to track down small parcels of fine mature wines at reasonable prices. This Gevrey is another of his fabulous finds, showing some beautiful development over the dark fruit and muscularity one looks for in this appellation.

Vinous
Bright, pale-medium red. Reticent, perfumed nose suggests a wine of moderate concentration and ripeness. Supple and rather delicate in the mouth, with red berry flavors accented by peppery herbs. Little in the way of easy sweetness here. A wine of limited stuffing, in need of more intensity and thrust. Finishes with a soft dusting of tannins and a perfumed quality but only modest length.
