Rolf Binder
Rolf and Franziska Binder came to Australia from Hungary in the 1950s and set up Veritas Winery on Langmeil Road in 1955. Their son, also Rolf, worked his first vintage in 1978 before attending Roseworthy and took full time control in 1982. This is still a true family owned winery that has garned worldwide recognition for its exceptional wines. In 2005, the name was changed from Veritas to Rolf Binder, to avoid confusion with the Californian winery of the same name. Rolf’s sister, Christa, joined the family firm a decade ago to take responsibility for the white wine production, something she had become specialised in since graduating from Roseworthy in 1976. The Riesling is a very pure wine with a fabulous texture and more subtlety than many South Australian Rieslings.
