Pol Roger
Pol Roger established his firm in 1849 at the tender age of 18 and was at the helm until 1899, when he died of Pneumonia and his sons took over. Now run by members of the fifth generation of the family, the house owns 87 hectares of vineyards, mostly on the Côtes des Blancs. The non vintage is a blend of equal parts of the three varieties, whilst the vintage and the cuvée Sir Winston Churchill are dominated by Pinot Noir. The house style is for quite full bodied and rich Champagnes, with notable toasty undertones, but also with great freshness and ability to age.
