Mortlach

Mortlach distillery was established in 1823-24 and was the first of seven Dufftown distilleries to be licensed. It doubled in size in 1897 and was sold to John Walker & Sons Ltd in 1923 becoming an important contributor to Johnnie Walker blends. However it is the small volumes of independent bottlings and of course the intensely rich, heavily sherried 16 year old that excite the most debate and interest.
