Mazza
David Mazza was born in Western Australia and was introduced to winemaking by his Italian father at a young age. In 2002, after a career in Finance in Europe, he, and his wife Anne, inspired by their love of Iberian wines, planted their small 4 ha vineyard in the Geographe region, located to the north and east of Margaret River. They grow six varieties native to Spain and Portugal: Tempranillo, Graciano, Bastardo (vinified as a rosé), Sousão, Tinta Cão and Touriga Nacional. From these they produce a total of just 1,500 cases of five varietal wines and a blend made up of five different varieties called Cinque. With David and Anne living on the property, all of the work is carried out by hand with minimal spraying. Although this is a young winery with tiny production, the wines have already received some lovely reviews both domestically and internationally.
