Joseph Perrier
Joseph Perrier was founded in Châlons in 1825 and it remains in the same buildings today. In 1888, it was purchased by the Pithos family and remains in the hands of their descendants. Currently led by the engaging Jean-Claude Fourmon, they own 23 hectares of vineyards on the south-facing slopes of the Marne Valley that supply 30% of their needs, with the remainder coming from growers, most of whom have supplied the family for three or four generations. Being one of the smallest Grande Marque houses, Joseph Perrier have never been great spenders on marketing and do not sell their wines to the big retailers, preferring to offer their wines to specialist independents and the on-trade, where their quality and value are better appreciated.
