Hilltop Winery
Founded in 1991 as a wine merchant by four Hungarians – Éva Keresztury, Imre Török, Judit Storez and Ákos Kamocsay – in 1993 they acquired the property in Neszmély and started wine production. Now with an ultra modern winery they are Hungary’s largest exporter of wines, farming 450 hectares in Neszmély and 110 hectares in Szekszárd. Although they are increasing plantings of indigenous varieties, the majority of the vineyard is taken up with international varieties. The wines from here offer great fruit and precision and are staggeringly good value for money. The Chardonnay is crisp, clean and unoaked, the Pinot Grigio has spicy pear fruit and a depth more associated with the finest north-eastern Italian wines.
