Hamilton-Russell
Tim Hamilton-Russell purchased this land in the far southern district of Henel-en-Aarde in 1975 and produced his first wine here in 1981. His son, Anthony, disagreeing with apartheid moved to the UK in the 80’s, working as a management consultant and only returned to South Africa in 1991. He bought the estate from his father in 1994, pulling out all the vines that were not Chardonnay or Pinot Noir and begun replanting with better clones and well chosen sites. His wines are now the benchmark for South African Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
