G D Vajra

Founded in 1972 by Giuseppe Domenico Vajra from his family vineyards, the estate is now run by his son Aldo and his children. There are 40 hectares of vineyards with 10 of Nebbiolo located in prime Barolo Crus, the rest being Barbera, Dolcetto Langhe Nebbiolo, Moscato and, unusually, some Pinot Nero and Riesling. Vinification is very traditional with long barrel ageing and whilst the wines have plenty of structure, they also have an ethereal elegance.
