Frederic Magnien
Frédéric, born in 1969, is the fifth generation of his family to make wine hereabouts. In 1992 he went abroad to further his education, working at Calera in California and at Bannockburn in Australia, before returning to Dijon to complete an oenology diploma. In 1995 he started his négociant company, acting as a consultant to growers whose grapes he buys and concentrating on the produce of old vines. The ‘Coeur de Roches’ is a classic, elegant style of Meursault and comes from a 0.8 hectare plot of 35 year old vines in the ‘Les Pelles’ lieu dit and it was fermented and aged in 20% new oak. The Gevrey has power, but also elegance and was bottled unfined and un-filtered.
