Filipa Pato
Daughter of the legendary Luis Pato, probably Portugal’s finest winemaker, Filipa chose not to take the easy path of working for her father, but struck out on her own. After taking a degree in chemistry, she studied winemaking in Argentina, at Cantenac Brown in Bordeaux and at Leeuwin in Australia, before setting up her own winery, farming rented vineyards in Beiras. Thoughtful, experimental and in her own words ‘a little crazy’ Filipa makes beautiful wines. The Bossa (named after the Bossanova – dance is a passion) is a creamy, dry and refreshing wine, with flavours of peach and apricot. All it needs is some shellfish to go with it.
