Dominio de la Vega
Dominio de la Vega is a small winery in Utiel-Requeña, inland from Valencia. The domaine was founded in 2001 by three families, the Pardo, Exposito and Faubels who had previously built up Cavas Y Vinos Torre Oria in the region. They are housed in 19th century buildings, lovingly restored and they own 17 hectares of vineyards on three distinct soil types, clay for the Macabeo, limestone for the Chardonnay and clay-limestone for the Bobal. The vineyards are around 900 metres above sea level – vital in this hot part of Spain for maintaining freshness in the wines. The wines are made by Daniel Exposito and the results are some of Spain’s finest Cavas, all of which have a strong lees aged character, and some powerful, yet surprisingly elegant Bobals.
