Domaine Pierre Damoy
This domaine has enviable vineyard holdings, with 8 hectares of Grand Cru land including, with 5.36 hectares, over a third of the total of Clos de Bèze, however for over 30 years under Jacques Damoy the wine produced was mediocre at best. His nephew, another Pierre, took over in 1992 and revolutionised practices in the vineyard and cellar and in a few short years bought the domaine back to the top table. Winemaking is gentle and quite hands-off letting the now superb fruit show its best, although as with all great Gevrey, these are wines that need a decade to show their true complexity.
