Domaine le Clos des Cazaux
There are records of the Vache family being resident in Vacqueyras dating back to 1791. The Domaine first planted vines in the 19th Century, along with other crops, but in 1957 a catastrophic frost killed their olive plantation and it was decided to concentrate on wine. Today there are 20 hectares under vine and the Domaine is run by Lucette and Maurice Archimbaud Vache, along with their sons Jean-Michel and Frédéric, both of whom are qualified oenologists. They bottle the best two thirds of their crop and sell the remainder to the local cooperative. The ‘Reserve’ is a spicy berry laden wine made from 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah.
