Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot
Since Jean-Marc took over running this 11 hectare domaine from his father Jean, the quality of the wines has soared, ensuring this is now among the best addresses in Burgundy for white wines. Richly fruited, yet with the firmness and backbone that are the hallmarks of Chassagne, the wines here get better (and harder to secure) with each vintage. Founded by Jean-Baptiste Pillot in 1910, Jean-Marc took over from his father in 1991. Today he has 11 hectares throughout Chassagne-Montrachet, which he manages alongside his wife, Nadine, and his sister, Bérénice. They are fortunate to have a high proportion of old vines, with most aged between 25-50 years, and vines in their plot in Clos Saint Marc reaching 100 years. These wines have a lovely balance between immediate appeal and potential for cellaring over the medium term.
