Domaine Jacques Prieur
This domaine, created in 1868, has one of the most enviable vineyard holdings in Burgundy with 22 hectares that include no less than 9 Grand Crus and 15 premier crus in both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. For many years the wines were consistently average as the family focussed on volume over quality, but changes started in 1988 when Antonin Rodet took a stake in the business and began managing it towards quality. Rodet sold their stake to the Labruyère family who since have taken majority control and over the last 15 years the wines, which tend to be rich, ripe and flamboyant, have become worthy of the vineyards they come from.
