Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe
The Brunier family first planted vines on the Le Crau plain in south-eastern Châteauneuf in 1891 and the estate now consists of 100 hectares, 56 on the Crau plateau from which the red and white Grand Vin are made and a further 44 from which they make La Roquette and Piedlong. The domaine is run along organic lines (although not certified) by the fifth and sixth generations of the family. Made from a traditional blend of two thirds Grenache supplemented with Syrah and Mourvèdre all aged in older casks, this is one of the benchmark wines of the region and whilst silky and attractive on release, it ages magnificently.
