Domaine Comte Lafon
Unquestionably Meursault’s and perhaps Burgundy’s greatest white wine domaine, Domaine Lafon was put together by Comte Jules Lafon, the grandfather of Dominique who has run the estate since 1983. Until Dominique arrived, much of the land was share cropped with other domaines and there was a badly equipped cellar, however Dominique’s hard work and great skill have bought this domaine to the forefront of the region. There are 16.3 hectares, the majority located in the finest premier crus of the village and crowned by a small plot in Montrachet and since 1998 the land has been farmed biodynamically. The whites have extraordinary concentration and length and other worldly balance. There are also some fine age-worthy reds, the best a Volnay-Santenots.
