Domaine Charles Joguet
Perhaps the most famous name in Chinon and the pioneer of single vineyard Cabernet Franc, Charles Joguet, born in 1931, was a painter and sculptor by training, who returned on the death of his father to the small village of Sazilly to take over his family’s domaine in 1957. He introduced domaine bottling and single vineyard cuvées showing the amazing diversity of Chinon. Having no heirs, he sold the estate in the 1997 to the Genet family so he could spend his last years concentrating on painting, but they continued his philosophies completely. There are 36 hectares of Cabernet Franc and 3 of Chenin Blanc, farmed organically since 2008 and certified in 2016, the winemaker is Kevin Fontaine
