Chateau Rauzan-Segla
This fine second growth was rated alongside Mouton as the best second growths in 1855, yet spent the majority of the 20th century producing mediocre wines for a succesion of owners. The late ’80s saw some improvements but it was not until the Wertheimer family (American owners of Chanel) bought the property in 1994, that a step change occured. There are 60 hectares with a relatively high proportion of Merlot and the wine produced is one of finesse and charm, although not without the depth to age well. This is, once again, one of the leading propoerties of Margaux.
