Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande
One of the iconic properties of Bordeaux and thoroughly deserving of its second growth status, Pichon Lalande was run with dedication for thirty years by Madame May-Elaine de Lencquesaing, whose father first purchased the property in 1924. In 2007, having assured her place in wine history, she sold the 65 hectare property to the Rouzard family, the owners of Champagne house Louis Roederer. Historically, a large portion of merlot was included in the blend, giving an approachability to the wines and whilst recent years have seen a marked increase in the Cabernet content, the wine still has a measure of charm when young. The second wine, Reserve de la Comtesse is one of the best in Bordeaux.
