Chateau Pichon Comtesse
One of the iconic properties of Bordeaux and thoroughly deserving of its second growth status, Pichon Lalande was run with dedication for thirty years by Madame May-Elaine de Lencquesaing, whose father first purchased the property in 1924. In 2007, having assured her place in wine history, she sold the property to the Rouzard family, the owners of Champagne house Louis Roederer. Unusual for the Médoc, the estate has less than 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and this comes through in the wines approachability when young. Réserve de la Comtesse is the second wine here and is one of the top second wines made in the region.
