Chateau Musar
Founded by Gaston Hochar in 1930, Musar was originally a hobby that became something more serious after the Second World War. Serge joined his father in 1959 and built Musar up to what it is today. Now run by his children Gaston and Marc, the 180 hectares of vineyards are planted in the Bekaa Valley at 1000m, mainly with Cabernet, along with some Cinsault and Carignan. Made like traditional Bordeaux, this is a serious and ageworthy wine, with deep fruit and fine tannins. Musar Jeune comprises the same blend as the grand vin, but without oak ageing. It shares the flavours of its big brother but is more immediate and softer and is ready to drink on release.
