Chateau Lynch-Bages

This 110 hectare fifth growth was bought by the Cazes family in 1939 and Jean-Michel Cazes took over the reins in 1973, when the estate was in poor repair. He instituted changes and investment and took Lynch to its current exalted position. It has long had a following in England and from the 1990s gained a strong international following. It is a wine of great presence and strength, approachable and slightly bumptious when young it ages into classic Pauillac, redolent of cedar and cassis. 6 hectares are planted to white varieties and whilst quite oaky, the blanc is a wine of real character.
