Chateau Leoville Lascases
A stellar property that frequently hits the heights of the first growths, it is also one of the most expensive in Bordeaux. The vineyard is 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 3 % Petit Verdot and often more than half of the crop is not considered for the Grand Vin. Clos du Marquis is the second wine (and generally the match of many 4th growths) and a third wine is also made. These are not wines for the impatient, as they need at least 10 years to shed their tannic shell and blossom into glorious complexity.
