Chateau Leoville Barton
This second growth of 45 hectares was purchsed by the Barton family, to go with their recently acquired Langoa-Barton property, in 1826 when the historic Leoville estate was broken up. Whilst the wine performed in great vintages, it was often good rather than great until Anthony Barton took over in 1983. The past four decades have seen a string of superb wines that have lovely balance and freshness and whilst no longer the bargain it was in the 90s, it is still very reasonably priced.
