Chateau Latour
The deepest and most powerful of the first growths, Latour is a wine of structure and majesty and the site has been making wine of reknown for over 600 years. After a period of British ownership, during which standards were perhaps not as high as they might have been, Latour has been owned since 1993 bu François Pinault and after a period of heavy investment is once more at the peak of its game. There are 85 hectares of vineyards in the far south of Pauillac, 80% of which are Cabernet Sauvignon and around 20,000 cases of Grand Vin are made in an average year. Of all the first growths, Latour demands the most ageing and fine vintages keep for decades.
