Chateau Cantenac Brown
This third growth has had somewhat of a chequered recent history, with four owners in the last 40 years. AXA improved this moribund property between 1989 and 2006 until they sold it to the UK based Halabi family. The winemaker throughout this period has remained José Sanfins, who has quietly improved both the vineyards and the cellars and achieved sustainable certification. Brio was the Halabi’s new name for the second wine here and it is 65% Cabernet, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, all aged in 20% new oak for 12 months.
