Chateau Batailley
This 5th growth was purchased by the Borie family in 1932 and is still in the hands of their decendants, the Castejas, who also run famous negocient Borie-Manoux. Batailley consists of 57 hectares to the west of Mouton-Rothschild and is very classically styled, with a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. Throughout the 80s and 90s, the wines were dependable, good value, but seldom exciting. Since 2005 there has been a marked improvement and they are now wines worthy of real attention.
