Bodegas Espana Autentica
Created in early 2005 by three ambitious young winemakers, their idea was to make varietal wines, but using Spanish (as opposed to international) varietals, within the DO classification system. Although nominally based in Madrid, they rent winery space in each region they produce wines in and either own or rent vineyards there. The mileage they must rack up around harvest time doesn’t bear thinking about, but the wines are perfectly illustrative of the ‘new Spain’, combining very recognisable regional typicity, with an approachability of style. The Priorat is a dense brooding wine, with dried fruits and a marked minerality.
