New Zealand produces exciting wines. Known mainly for their effusive Sauvignon Blancs, a new generation of wine markers have taken up the work of their predecessors by continuing to explore the myriad terroirs of these two islands in an attempt to truly define just what New Zealand wine is. Such a patchwork of climates–influenced by the oceans, mountains and sun, of course–mean there is plenty to explore. Not quite as sun-soaked as the wines of Australia, yet not quite classically-European is by all accounts a pretty good place to sit.
