Burgundy 2021 follows a heavyweight trio of vintages, and it would have been a mistake to try and extract similar levels of structure and intensity in these wines. It involved a hugely challenging growing season, unrelenting work in the vineyard and complex decisions to reduce already tiny yields.
But, following these three warmer vintages, 2021 is a return to classic Burgundy style, from Chablis through to the Côte de Nuits. “Classically styled, transparent of terroir, energetic, and gourmand,” said our Fine Wine Buyer, Martin Tickle. These are wines you will want in your cellar, but volume is sadly significantly down.
