Nikka's Miyagikyo is a brilliant introduction to the classic Nikka style. Full and rich on the nose, with malted barley, banana and liquorice with touches of wood smoke and beeswax. The palate is fantastic, with malted barley the core flavour, drawing in ginger and cinnamon, chocolate, coconut and tobacco. Very elegant. The finish is long and soft, with toasted nuts, tobacco and a mellow floral note rounding it off.
