2017 Chablis, 1er Cru Sechet Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Samuel Billaud (Magnum)
The 2017 Chablis Séchet Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru has an expressive nose of lemon verbena, white peach and hints of lemon curd; crushed stone/flinty aromas emerge with time. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, and quite shrill on the entry, but it manages to address that sharpness toward a balanced, citric finish of moderate length. I suspect this will merit a higher score with further bottle age. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.
