2014 Les Champs Libres AOC Bordeaux (1 x Magnum)
The 2014 Les Champs Libres is a Burgundy doppelgänger, which is quite some achievement given that it is 100% Sauvignon Blanc! It exudes tension with hints of white peach and lemon zest emerging with time. The palate is fresh and vibrant with gorgeous lemon peel, fresh lime, white peach and just a touch of stem ginger. Harmonious and intense, this is just a fabulous wine from la famille Guinaudeau, though be warned, it has that more-ish factor that will leave the bottle empty, so have back-up, just in case.

Vinous
The 2014 Champs Libres is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc made by a winemaker with a distinctly Burgundian-leaning palate, as is evidenced by the slightly reductive notes in the bouquet, intense minerality and chiseled fruit that tastes like a cross between a top-flight Sancerre and Meursault Genevrierès. Hints of slate, sage, rosemary and mint punctuate the striking finish. There is so much to like here. Baptiste Guinadeau and his team made a gorgeous Champs Libres in 2014.

Vinous
The 2014 Les Champs Libre Blanc has an attractive bouquet with lemon sherbet, orange blossom and grapefruit scents all very well defined. The palate is well balanced with neatly integrated new oak lending a creamy sheen, moderate acidity, gaining depth towards the light honeyed, stem ginger tinged finish. Very fine (and the winner of the flight, beating many Pessac-Léognan Blancs.) Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
