Siro Panceti: Brunello di Montalcino
Following on from our recent Podere Le Ripi releases, we now turn to the Brunellos of Siro Pacenti, one of Montalcino’s long-established estates, presenting its latest releases from the highly regarded 2021 vintage.
“The 2021 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino surprises with structured yet weightless wines. Furthermore, to the delight of those who love the typicality and character of Brunello expressed with greater immediacy and finesse, the 2021s are ready to be enjoyed now.”

Brunello di Montalcino, Pelagrilli 2021
£240 In Bond (6 bottles per case)
From its cooler site in the northern part of Montalcino, Pelagrilli delivers balance and an elegant structure from vineyards over 25 years old.
"Balsamic black cherries blend with nuances of mocha, brown spice and minty herbs as the 2021 Brunello di Montalcino Pelagrilli dominates the glass. It has the weight of velvet yet remains lifted and serene, with crisp red and black fruits that slowly penetrate, complemented by a twang of citrus. A bitter dark chocolate tinge adds tension through the close, further enhanced by edgy tannins, yet the 2021 leaves the mouth watering for more. Beautifully done." 94, Eric Guido, Vinous
"Gorgeous aromas of blackberries, black cherries, cedar, bark and spices follow through to a medium body with fine, integrated tannin sand a succulent finish. Shows drive and intensity at the end. Give this three to four years in the bottle, but it’s already beautiful. Drink after 2028." 97, James Suckling
Brunello di Montalcino, Vecchie Vigne
£450 In Bond (6 bottles per case)
Made with fruit from the estate's oldest vines and aged in French barrique, the Vecchie Vigne has a spicy note and silky tannins.
"Youthfully backward in the glass, the 2021 Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne requires some coaxing to unleash its array of dried black cherries, mentholated herbs, cinnamon sticks and crushed stone. It is seamlessly silky smooth and supple, with depths of chocolate-laced wild berry fruits contrasted by a tactile mineral core. Fresh acidity wins the day as the 2021 finishes with cheek-punching tension, structured yet not severe, while leaving a tart berry twang. 95, Eric Guido, Vinous
"Black cherry, black licorice, graphite, violet and lavender aromas follow through to a full body with a compact center palate and chewy yet very integrated tannins that give drive and great length. Muscular and agile in the finish. Try after 2029." 98, James Suckling
