On Wednesday night last week I had the honour of representing Jeroboams at an exclusive dinner with Laurent-Perrier to celebrate the launch of their newest Grand Siècle Itération N°26.

The event was held at Mauro’s Table, a private Chef’s Table in London’s hottest new 5 star hotel – Raffles. Only the Prime Minister and the legendary Alain Ducasse had graced the hotel with their presence prior to its opening last week, so it goes without saying that it was a true privilege to be there.

Over the course of the evening our guests and I tasted Grand Siècle Iteration N°26 side by side with Iteration N°25 and N°24, accompanied by some of the most incredible gastronomy I’ve ever tasted. Delicate, refined dishes paired to the Champagne perfectly, and the whole evening was one of hedonistic pleasure. While there is no doubt in my mind that the N°25 & N°24 are sensational, somehow Laurent Perrier have managed to outdo themselves because the N°26 is drop-dead gorgeous.

At the end of the night the question was asked – which was the favourite of the three? Twelve of twelve esteemed guests unanimously concurred N°26, but of course only time will tell.

Scott Fitzgerald famously once said “Too much of anything is bad, but too much Champagne is just right.” Having now drunk Iteration N°26, I know exactly what he’s talking about.
