2022 Morey St Denis, 1er Cru La Riotte, Domaine Odoul-Coquard (6 x Bottle)

France Burgundy Cote de Nuits

This walled vineyard is owned collectively by the village of Morey and is leased to the Odoul-Coquard because they have the fewest Premier Cru vineyards in the village. Summer pudding on the nose, with a sweet spice adding that Morey character. There is plenty of upfront appeal on the palate due to the vitality of the fruit, with confit tannins already melting into the wine. You can’t deny the serious side of the vineyard, with a mineral quality that grips the finish.

Vinous

The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos La Riotte 1er Cru is a genuine clos owned by the village that is under métayage to the Domaine. It is habitually the first to be picked. The attractive nose offers red cherries, raspberry coulis, and light violet scents that emerge with time. The palate is wonderful: very cohesive, with real depth and fine tannins framing the lightly peppered red fruit, a kiss of licorice right on the finish. Excellent.
