2022 Cuvee Clarendon Rose, Domaine Gavoty, Cotes de Provence
Tasting note
Deceptively pale, the nose is full of crushed summer fruits, whilst the palate is a mouth watering blend of strawberries and redcurrants, allied to a creamy texture, considerable weight and a long crisp finish.
Our thoughts
From a traditional, organic producer with a deep respect for the environment forged over 200 years and more of family ownership, this rosé is made from 70% Grenache and 30% Cinsault which is hand harvested, de-stemmed and vinified separately. After a short maceration, free-run juice and a small amount of first press are then blended and fermented in stainless steel for a month before around six month’s ageing on the lees. The result is a wine with a pale onion skin colour and a tinge of orange, and notable weight and texture.
