2019 Barolo Monvigliero, Voerzio Martini

Decidedly post-modern in style with a decent slap of oak on the nose. Really bright and clear fruit. The palate has excellent structure with tannins that quite literally melt away. Highly aromatic and perfumed but with plenty of bright red fruit and a moreish, Christmas cake finish. Showing unbelievably well already, it will be fascinating to watch how this ages.

Vinous
The 2019 Barolo Monvigliero opens with very pretty, nuanced aromatics. On the palate, the 2019 is quite closed and inexpressive. Perhaps this will soften in time. We will see. Today, the Monvigliero has good energy, but not quite the sensual appeal that characterizes so many wines from this Verduno vineyard.
