While we cannot contain our excitement for the new Piemonte releases, namely the Barolo 2019s and Barbaresco 2020s, there are also a whole raft of other wines which are new to market from the same iconic producers; their beautiful Barbera, delicious Dolcetto, and luscious Langhe Nebbiolos. These are the wines that the growers drink while waiting for their Barolo and Barbaresco to mature, and represent stunning value for money across the board.

We have picked out four that we feel are “Best in Class”. These are Azelia Barbera d’Alba “Punta” 2019, hailing from 60 year old vines located just behind the winery in Castiglione Falleto; Diego Conterno’s Dolcetto d’Alba 2021, which for us is one of the purest expressions of Dolcetto that you can find; Guido Porro’s Langhe Nebbiolo, a wine that is Barolo is all but name with fruit hailing from declassified Serralunga vines; and finally Vietti’s Barbera d’Asti La Crena 2020, which is a glimpse in to the style of one of the best producers in the region.
